Who can book?
Any individual , groups of disabled people or families with at least one disabled member. Certain dates will be kept free for individuals to take trips .How do I book?
Telephone to check date availability first and then simply complete the booking form and send it together with a deposit of £25 (cheques or Postal Orders made payable to Stockport Canal Boat Trust) to the Booking Officer:

Dates can only be confirmed with the deposit. Should you make a cancellation with less than 14 days notice your deposit will be forfeited.
Please enclose an S.A.E. for acknowledgement of your booking.
The Trust does not have an invoicing department but the balance of the hire charge must be paid 14 days prior to your boat trip. No reminder will be sent out . For security reasons payment cannot be accepted by the Skipper
The Trust is an independent registered charity (No.1075844) and wishes to avoid levying a fixed hire charge. However it relies heavily on the generosity of the users to contribute towards the substantial running costs of the boat. A guide to the expected donation per group is:- Hire charges 2008 .
Hire Charges 2008 Period of day Morning £48 Afternoon £75 Full day £115 APRIL OFFER. Once again, in order to get ‘New Horizons’ used more in April we are offering a deal for April only.
Book the boat for any day in April, morning from 10.00am to 12.30pm., afternoon from 1.00 p.m to 4.30 p.m. or all day from 10.am to 4.30 p.m.Morning trips £30 ,
Afternoon trips £40 ,
All day trips £60 .
THREE TRIPS FOR THE PRICE OF TWO!Once again the Trust is delighted to offer our supporters the chance to pay for two trips and get a third trip free of charge.
Any trips booked in April are not included in this three for two promotion.‘New Horizons’ will visit Marple Carnival in June and will not be available for trips on this day, but come along , it will be great day out with lots to see and do.
We shall be there, promoting ‘New Horizons’ and we’ll be pleased to see you.
Number of passengers (including helpers and carers)
We recommend that the number of wheelchair users does not exceed four.
- Day trips - up to 12 persons.
Twelve passengers is the maximum number of persons we are allowed to carry and this figure must not be exceeded. This is a legal requirement which must be strictly observed. Any carers, drivers and babies etc., must be included in the passenger number count.
Day trips
Careful consideration should be given by those booking the boat as to whether the passengers would benefit most from a half day or full day cruise.Sailing times:
Departure and return of the boat from:
Marple Wharf,
Church Street (off Church Lane),
Marple,
Stockport.
[A] Morning cruises:
Passengers should arrive at 10.00 a.m. for a 10.30 a.m. sailing returning at 12.30 p.m.
[B] Afternoon cruises:
Passengers should arrive at 1.00 p.m. for a 1.30 p.m. sailing returning at 4.30 p.m.
[C] All day cruises:
Passengers should arrive at 10.00 a.m. for a 10.30 a.m. sailing returning at 4.30 p.m.
The above times can often be varied by prior arrangement.
For example , if a 10-00am departure is too early for your trip, we will try and fit in with your requirements for a later start.

If you book an all day trip, you might care to stop for lunch. There is good wheelchair access at the Miners Arms (tel. 01625 872731) at Adlington.
The Bulls Head at High Lane (tel. 01663 762070) and the Boars Head at Higher Poynton (01625 876676) are also accessible.There is ample parking space at our boatyard in Marple, immediately adjacent to the boat. The boat is fully accessible with a boarding ramp and lift. There are NO STAIRS. There is wheelchair access throughout the length of the boat, a fully equipped , self-catering kitchen and a fully accessible private toilet area.
the boat is centrally heated and has large windows and a raised outside viewing deck at the front.

[A] Morning cruise , Marple to High Lane on the Macclesfield Canal , and return.
[B] Afternoon Cruises , Marple to Higher Poynton on the Macclesfield Canal , and return.
OR : . Marple to New Mills on the Peak Forest Canal , and return. . .

OR : . Marple to Whaley Bridge or Buxworth on the Peak Forest Canal . This is the most scenic route , but there are no pubs with easy wheelchair access and time only permits a short stop of about half an hour before returning to Marple in the afternoon . . The Trust reserves the right to cancel trips if the boat is regarded as unserviceable at any time. The Trust cannot be responsible for delays caused by water shortages, stoppages, canal traffic conditions, mechanical breakdown, or any other cause.
Helpers
If any disabled person needs assistance or support, they must be accompanied by a helper. The Skipper and crew are not in a position to provide personal assistance to passengers, they are fully occupied looking after the safe navigation of the boat.What should we bring?
- Food (see catering).
- Any special personal equipment required (special cups, cutlery etc.).
- Clothing - the boat is centrally heated but warm clothing is needed if passengers wish to sit on the fore deck. Helpers are advised to bring waterproof clothing and non-slip shoes.
- Personal toiletries and/or medication.
Catering
Full cooking facilities, utensils, crockery; cutlery and fridge are provided on board. On half day and full day trips the Trust provides tea, coffee, milk and sugar but not soft drinks.On full day cruises passengers should bring their own food unless they have made arrangements for a pub lunch.
No Smoking
In the interests of health and safety and in line with other forms of transport we operate a No Smoking policy on board 'New Horizons.'Insurance and damage
Whilst the Trust has Public Liability cover, passengers are responsible for their own personal possessions and medication, and the Trust cannot be responsible for the loss of or damage to the personal property of passengers. Passengers are also expected to make good any breakages, etc.Free video

Providing the video is returned within one month your deposit cheque will be returned. After one month we shall assume you wish to keep the video and your cheque will be cashed.
